speedy delivery…

January 11, 2010

Unless this is the very first page you’ve come across, it isn’t news to anyone reading this blog that I am expecting to get a lot of mail this year. The waiting involved in old fashioned postal delivery is a natural fit for this project, not to mention the analogue similarities between film photography and paper with postage.

One thing about snail mail that I enjoy is the stamp on the letter. I’m not a philatelist, but I do enjoy spending a few moments taking a closer look at these painstakingly crafted adhesive paper rectangles. Here are scans from the first envelopes that have come my way:

One of the collaborators in this project likely won’t have to use any postage stamps to send me his contributions throughout the coming year. That’s because Dave Von Bieker is waiting about 1 mile from my house (but not in an inappropriate way…that’s just where he lives).
