Waiting for the mail.

November 22, 2009

Twenty six artists will be receiving the details of my project proposal in their mailboxes in the coming days and weeks.

An invitation or two may have reached its destination. Those bearing fifty four cent stamps and traveling to less than exotic mail slots and in baskets may have been read and re-read.

Many are still in transit. Across the country, across the sea.

How will they be received? Will the foreign stamps be noticed and admired? Roughly ripped open at the narrow end in haste or deliberately torn with an old letter opener from the antique mall with the stationary hula girl on the handle? I ponder this, but will likely never know, or even remember the thought tomorrow.

My waiting focuses on their next action. Are they interested now that they know the details? Is this a commitment that they are willing to make? Will they complete the form and mail it back?

I hope so.
